Presented by Bob Wright
This presentation will offer an overview of the early rapid transit plans for Philadelphia following the opening of the Market Street Subway/Elevated and ultimately resulting in the Broad Street Subway system which began service in 1928. It will follow further plans, developments and expansion through the years of operation by Philadelphia Rapid Transit (PRT) and Philadelphia Transportation Company (PTC). This installment, which is Part 1 of a planned two-part offering, will conclude with the SEPTA takeover of PTC in 1968.
